Job Summary:

The Advance Practice Provider (APP) is a highly knowledgeable professional provider, Physician Assistant (PA), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Nurse Practitioner (NP), who assumes responsibility for providing personalized care to patients. In this role, clinical assessment and interpretative skills, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques are used to deliver quality care to patients. This highly respected role supports patients and works in concert with physicians and care teams to meet the clinical needs of patients.

In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the position will perform tasks in collaboration with, or as directed by, the patient’s attending physician. The APP performs only those clinical tasks s/he is capable of and within the scope of their accrediting and licensing bodies, as well as the Medical Staff bylaws of COH. The APP will comply with all hospital by-laws, rules and regulations and will ensure all entries in the medical record are co-signed by the attending physician. APPs will prescribe medications as clinically indicated and allowed by state/federal licensing.

The APP role supports a broad scope of services and as such, the APP must be able to effectively interact with a variety of settings with both efficiency and urgency. The APP may see patients in the inpatient or outpatient setting and the ability to take call is expected. A high level of independence and critical thinking is required in this role. The ability to assess concerns with a collaborative team approach is essential. Hours for the APP role will vary based on patient care and business needs; the ability to be flexible is necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current State of licensure

  • DEA without restriction

  • Illinois Controlled Substance license required.

  • Maintains required number of CME hours as required by the professional organization.

  • Relevant and applicable clinical experience

  • Oncology and/or Infusion experience highly desired


Pay Range

$98,166.43 - $161,616.00

Placement within the identified pay range is based on individual and market factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, credentials (including licenses and certifications), geographic location, market competition, skill set (including market availability of required skills), assigned/anticipated job tasks, and level of responsibility.  These factors are considered without regard to an individual’s status as a member of any protect group pursuant to federal, state, and/or local law.
